2009 Art Gleason Tournament Recap

The 2009 Art Gleason Invitational was held September 27-29. We had 20 teams compete in the event this year, which is a record number for the tournament. All of the teams included one professional and three amateurs. We had teams from all around the south east and as far as Minnesota.

Sunday night the players were treated to a cocktail party at the WaterSound Beach club. Shay and her team did a great job taking care of all of the players. Monday’s first round was held at Camp Creek Golf Club, with all of the players battling high winds and fast greens. The tournament dinner was held Monday at Shark’s Tooth Golf Club. Chef Bryan prepared a delicious dinner for all of the events participants.  Tuesday’s final round was held at Shark’s Tooth with lunch and awards following play. 

The 2009 Art Gleason Champions were from Arrowhead Golf Club in Montgomery. The team included Golf Professional Fred Holton and Shark’s Tooth member Bill Kennedy, along with Mike Murphy and Smokey Rigdon.  The Gross Champions were from Diamond Creek Golf Club in North Carolina. The team included Golf Professional John McNeely and Shark’s Tooth members A.C. Cooper and Mike Eller along with Steve Kemsey.  The low Golf Professional was Payton Osborn from Emerald Bay in Destin. Payton shot and impressive 69 at Camp Creek and followed it up with a 72 at Shark’s Tooth.
